Job Overview:
As a Packaging Associate at Zuber's Sausage Kitchen, you will be responsible for the accurate, efficient, and safe packaging of sausage products. You will ensure that all products are packaged in compliance with company standards and food safety regulations, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Packaging: Efficiently and accurately package sausage products into designated packaging materials (e.g., vacuum-sealed bags, boxes). Ensure that packaging is clean, intact, and labeled according to product specifications and regulatory standards.
Quality Control: Perform visual inspections to ensure that products meet quality standards and food safety regulations. Report any discrepancies or damaged goods to supervisors.
Food Safety Compliance: Follow all HACCP protocols to prevent contamination and ensure safe food handling practices. Monitor packaging conditions, including temperature control, hygiene, and sanitation.
Sanitation and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Follow standard operating procedures for cleaning and sanitizing equipment and workstations.
Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring inventory of packaging materials and report low stock levels to supervisors. Ensure that all packaging materials are properly stored and organized.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other packaging team members and production staff to meet daily production targets. Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any issues or delays in the packaging process.
Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of packaging activities, including batch numbers, packaging materials used, and any issues encountered during the packaging process.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: Prior experience in food packaging, production, or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of HACCP protocols and food safety regulations is a plus. But definitely not required.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy boxes (up to 50 lbs), and work in cold environments. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail.
Safety Focused: Strong commitment to following food safety protocols and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
HACCP Training: Familiarity with HACCP principles and experience in a HACCP-regulated environment is a significant advantage.
Attention to Detail: Ability to follow detailed instructions and ensure products are packaged accurately and safely.
Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of packaging equipment and ability to troubleshoot minor issues when necessary.
Compensation:
Wage: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Working Conditions:
Environment: Cold working conditions, standing for long periods, exposure to moving machinery.
Shifts: Availability for flexible work schedules, including possible weekends and overtime during peak production times.
