Patient Financial Services Coordinator

Stoughton Health has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Patient Financial Services Coordinator.

This position is responsible for overseeing and supporting the work of the patient financial services department. Among other duties, this individual is responsible for coordinating representatives’ efforts to resolve complex accounts and ensuring representatives’ interactions with patients are consistent and compassionate during billing and follow-up activities. This position helps to monitor all self-pay and third-party collection activities for the hospital and serves as a day-to-day resource for patient financial services staff members. The Patient Financial Services Coordinator ensures that accounts are worked, charges are billed timely and Epic work queues are maintained. The Patient Financial Services Coordinator also oversees the generation and tracking of monthly statistical data, WiPop data reporting, and financial assistance.

Special Requirements: Five years relevant experience in a related capacity in a health care setting is required. Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

- Leadership skills, such as ability to delegate responsibilities and maintain a high level of organization

- Ability to communicate effectively to convey information and resolve concerns

- Knowledge of hospital patient and/or physician clinic accounting

- Knowledge of billing and collections processes

- Knowledge of coding systems, such as ICD-10, and CPT

- Familiarity with government assistance programs, guidelines, and application procedures

- Familiarity with healthcare insurance exchanges and enrollment processes

- Ability to direct and supervise the work of others

- Ability to collaborate with coding, compliance, and billing managers

Required Education: Associate degree with a major in accounting, finance, health information, business administration or hospital administration. (Work experience may be substituted for degree)

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Medical Terminology training, Epic System training.

Professional experience: 5 years of experience in a healthcare setting performing or supporting functions related to scheduling, registration, insurance verification, referral management, prior authorizations, coding, estimates, claims, billing, or customer service.

Certification requirements: Certification in EPIC module and/or HFMA, AAPC, AHIMA, AAHAM revenue cycle designation preferred

Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, No Weekends, No Holidays
