Taproom Lead / Events Coordinator Needed

Working Draft is looking for an enthusiastic team-player to lead our front-of-house team and create and execute community-oriented events to fill the taproom.

This is a full-time salaried position (40-45 hours per week). Night, weekend, and partial holiday availability is required. This position reports to the General Manager and is the “department head” for the front of house.

Role Priorities and Responsibilities

Show initiative and work both independently and collaboratively

Have a finger on the pulse of all-things WDBC

Keep current with industry insights and economics, and evaluate and learn from similar businesses

Maintain sobriety while working

Design, plan, and execute four marquee events per year

Plan and execute approximately 25 unique on-premise events throughout the year

Maintain and grow current recurring on-premise events

Design, plan, and execute off-premise events that are high return: revenue generating and/or brand visibility

Create, utilize, and/or update current template(s) / checklist(s) / Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to facilitate in the planning, execution, and delegation of different types of event-related tasks

Work with customers and community groups to encourage the use of the taproom as a community space (for example, by coordinating table and taproom reservations)

Work with Management to maintain consistent food coverage in the taproom

Work with food vendors to ensure food service runs smoothly and effectively

Assist in debriefing of executed events, including investigating relevant data, customer impressions, and staff feedback

Assist in setting, tracking, and maintaining budgets and ROIs

Actively participate and contribute to leadership meetings and peripheral conversations

Create and maintain work schedule for front of house staff

Create, improve, and maintain Front of House SOPs

Work with staff to ensure that daily SOPs are completed correctly and timely

Help train new bartenders

Work with shift leads and bartenders to ensure company policies are followed

Order and manage inventories of cleaning supplies and chemicals, dry goods, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages

Organize and maintain taproom game collection, glassware, and merchandise

Ensure proper taproom ‘vibe’ (lighting, music choice and volume, etc.) for optimal customer experience

Ensure menus are updated and accurate for service

Work with Production to update keg and can inventory on a weekly basis

Work with Production to order guest taps to ensure a full and varied tap list

Work with Production to reserve proper amounts of WDBC-produced kegs and cans to fill taproom needs

Work with cleaning crews to ensure proper sanitation

Work with facility lead to ensure repairs / maintenance / updates to WDBC are identified and completed promptly

When necessary, bartend and provide top-notch customer service

Perform other tasks as assigned

Skills & Requirements

Previous event management experience

Previous experience bartending and managing bar staff

Ability to acquire City of Madison Operators Permit

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Ability to maneuver full cases of beer and place full kegs for tapping

Experience with Google Suite and Point of Sale systems (Square preferred)

Schedule

Full-time, with weekend and holiday hours required
