Altra Federal Credit Union is hiring a Technical Support Specialist to assist our employees with their technology needs. Our Technical Support Specialists work as a team to fully support the systems and applications used by our employees. They manage calls coming into the Help Desk, working with the employee through resolution and documenting the calls in the ticketing system.

Technical Support Specialists setup all user workstations and printers, monitor day-to-day operations of all Altra systems, including managing the physical layout of equipment and cabling, performing system backups, monitoring system and network performance, documenting, and implementing change control and patch management procedures, and testing for disaster recovery procedures. Technical Support Specialists will develop and document research, data retrieval, and data analysis methodologies for use by other personnel.

To be considered for this position, candidates will be required to meet the minimum qualifications below:

A High School diploma, GED or HSED

An Associates degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field. In place of an Associates degree, Altra will consider three (3) years of similar or related experience to qualify for the position.

A minimum of six (6) months experience in troubleshooting and technical Help Desk environments is required.

It would be beneficial for candidates to have at least two (2) years of experience supporting network environments and programming, and database experience, and two (2) years of experience in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software, and standards, as well as at least one (1) year of data retrieval methodologies systems applications. A Technical Certificate would be a plus.

Altra’s Help Desk is open from 7:00 a.m. CST to 6:00 p.m. CST Monday through Friday to support most of our retail branch hours across the country. The Technical Support team will rotate through various schedules within this timeframe, as well as rotate being on-call for a week at a time, 24/7 for that week, once every five (5) weeks. Altra’s corporate office is in Onalaska, WI, however, this position can be remote for the hired candidate.

Pay and Benefits:

Competitive starting rate of $23.59+/hour, depending on experience

Bilingual pay premium of $1.00/hour, after completing and passing the Spanish or Hmong speaking exam

Experience

Required
