Altra Federal Credit Union is hiring an experienced and self-motivated Business Intelligence Analyst to join its innovative and strategic team of IT professionals. Within data analytics, business intelligence has a very specific role: to convert data into useful & timely information to answer business questions. This position will be a primary catalyst for the development and communication of a business intelligence strategy that outlines the vision and roadmap for Altra’s journey to promote data-driven decision making resulting in high-quality and cost-effective business results.

The Business Intelligence Analyst will cultivate and promote a culture of self-service reporting. This results-oriented change agent will collaborate with operational functions throughout the credit union to collect, organize, and analyze data while providing insights and developing reporting structures to support decision making and process improvement activities. This position is responsible for implementing the latest business intelligence technology, addressing gaps within Altra’s data infrastructure, and creating and maintaining documentation of data elements, paginated reports, and dashboards.

The Business Intelligence Analyst will be an expert in Microsoft’s SQL Server Reporting Services (aka ReportBuilder), Power BI development in the cloud (Power BI Service) and on-premises (Power BI Report Server), including development for the Power BI mobile application. This position will provide technical support to colleagues, teaching them to utilize these tools and interfaces to further advance Altra’s overall data analysis skillset across all business units.

To be considered for this position, candidates will meet the following qualifications that are representative, but not all-inclusive of the knowledge, skill, and ability required:

High school diploma, GED or HSED and a two-year college degree (or equivalent) or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school. A four-year degree specializing in data science or business analysis is preferred.

Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in report writing and/or other business intelligence functions. Prior experience within depository financial institutions is preferred.

Certifications in Power BI, SQL Server, SSRS or other BI skills are highly preferred. Or willing to obtain these certifications.

Demonstrated knowledge of SELECT, CREATE, ALTER and DROP statements in SQL, specifically for Oracle and SQL Server.

Advanced knowledge of reporting and dashboarding tools and a commitment to transfer these skills to SQL Server Reporting Services and Power BI.

Advanced knowledge of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) and the M Query Language is strongly preferred.

In addition, candidates must be creative thinkers and innovative problem solvers with the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment. Candidates must be able to perform detailed work in an organized, self-motivated, and accurate manner to meet multiple deadlines and priorities.

This position is full time, 40-hours a week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Business Intelligence Analyst position is located at the Operations Center in Onalaska, WI, however, work from home / remote work opportunities can be considered for those candidates who live within Altra’s approved remote states: CO, FL, GA, IA, MI, MN, NJ, NC, TN, TX, and WI.

Experience

Required

A two-year college degree (or equivalent) or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school is required.
