Principal Engineer, Plastics, VPEWork Mode: OnsiteLocation: Onsite - Kohler, WIOpportunityTechnical direction of major new research and development, product design and product improvement projects for the Plastics product group. Planning, scheduling, and coordination of design and development projects. This position requires a high level of technical skill and innovation in the areas of design, analysis, development, and testing of new products and components, often with highly uncertain new technologies with large, unique integration. Conceives of and executes enabling technology with broad application in the area of electronics, control and system integration.Specific Responsibilities
Focus attention on manufacturing and value deliver processes.
Primary resource for corporate senior or executive management on Plastics technical matters - often with extensive customer influence and/or technical complexity
Communicates and advocates technical strategy/information to top management
Prepares project, technical, cost and other reports to show project progress as required.
Conducts/attends Technical Design Reviews, Failure Mode and Effect Analyses, etc., and contributes sound professional opinion, creative ideas, concepts, and approaches to new product design and development projects.
Solid understanding of Manufacturing Processes, Tooling, Equipment, Quality, and Materials (Flows, Seals, Chemical Testing, Corrosion, etc.);
Apply Innovation/Screening tools to technology options.
Determines the technical feasibility of new product concepts. Prepares detailed project plans including technical objectives and approaches, design specifications, test specifications, schedule plans, project cost estimates and product cost analyses.
Personally carries out in-depth design and development work of an advanced and complex nature.
Directs and coordinates all work by engineers, support personnel, and outside groups involving design, development, drafting, prototype construction, and test and evaluation of product concepts. Works closely with project groups to assure smooth transition to product development.
Mentors less senior engineers and technical support personnel in technical areas as required.
Applies execution of projects related to assembly and manufacturing processes and technologies that will keep the division ahead of its competition.
Determines where technologies can be bridged between divisions.
Research new manufacturing processes.
Procedure development.
Skills/Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least seven years of steadily increasing experience or Master’s Degree in Engineering with at least five years of experience.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.The salary range for this position is $117,000 - $149,500. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
