General Manager

Summary:

The General Manager is a full-time position in which this individual will oversee all production needs at Salmon’s Meat Products (SMP). This position will oversee meat processing: daily scheduling to complete orders, employee management, food and safety regulations. An individual who is a hard-working team player with a high sense of leadership, self-motivation and attention to detail will fit well with our culture.

Qualifications:

Excellent managerial, organization and leadership attributes to coordinate the efforts of multiple team members

Ability to lead a small team; 5 years experience preferred

Ability to be a dynamic team member with multiple business entities

Strong written communication, verbal communication skills and attention to detail

Ability to operate production-based equipment and software

Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central (ERP) preferred, but willing to train

Ability to multi-task and adapt to change

Awareness of the environment to ensure safe work practices and lead safety practices among team

Associates degree preferred

Experience in the food industry (USDA/FDA/DATCP regulated) or manufacturing (planning, logistics, supply chain)

7-10 years preferred

Experience in reporting production metrics

Physical demands:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Prolonged periods of bending, squatting, standing and walking through production

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer

Visual acuity to inspect products and machinery

Work Relationships:

Weekly contact with Ebert Family through Jordan Ebert. Works closely and maintains communication with the Accountant, Marketing Team and Human Resource Manager. Leads direct reports of the Office Manager, Retail Manager, Merchandising Coordinator and Production Manager. Leads indirect reports of Retail, Production and Distribution Teams.

People Management:

Understands and leads the example of SMP core values and culture

Communicate work-related information with appropriate personnel

Supervise and evaluate performance of production staff in a constructive and timely manner

Lead team to work together and solve problems

Make work-related decisions to organize workflow and meet deadlines

Coach, evaluate, discipline and resolve conflicts with personnel in both a group and one-on-one setting up to and including termination in accordance with company policy

Onboard, train and cross train direct reports

Evaluate machine resources to ensure efficiency and minimal downtime

Create a continuous improvement culture; encouraging team to identify opportunities to improve processes

Lead the example of work ethic, acting and working in a professional and safe manner

Collaborate with the customer service and sales department to identify and resolve quality concerns

Regulatory Management:

Drive a safe working environment and food handling practices

Assist in the preparation of the meat and ensure the quality exceeds customer expectations

Responsible for company, government (HACCP, USDA, FDA, DATCP), and other safety and sanitation regulations

Drive food and employee safety and ensure SMP is producing safe product for customers

Responsible for production schedule attainment

Ensure quality is met by output of work

Ensure all products are stored properly at optimum conditions

Schedule maintenance and repair of machines to avoid downtime or delays

Thorough understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management and other effective manufacturing and distribution techniques

Ensure all team members maintain proper inventory and numbers input correctly to accurately utilize ERP

Lead the initiative through completion and maintain federal inspection

Retail, Wholesale and Distribution Management:

Guarantee orders in and orders out are completed by deadline

Ensure quality is the focus in completing customer orders

Maintain knowledge and a clear understanding of outside wholesale accounts and distribution

Provide assistance to retail and wholesale accounts

Ensure necessary people, materials and other resources are available to relieve bottlenecks and delays

Use production planning and scheduling to limit material shortages

Monitor and use ERP data to drive business decisions

Drive retail and wholesale sales, initiatives, etc.

Financial Responsibility:

Drive financial growth for the company

Oversee financials and data provided by the team

Generate and report metrics

Oversee and make adjustments to control labor and financial health

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

Coordinate schedule with the Production Manager to ensure the plant is supervised during all times of operation. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, averaging 45-50 hours per week. Occasional Saturdays are needed based on demand of product during certain times of the year.
