The Eau Claire City-County Health Department has an opportunity for a part-time (up to 32 hours/week) Community Health Worker in the Communicable and Clinical Services Division. This division works to prevent and control outbreaks of communicable disease and provide inclusive sexual health services, including testing, treatment, and reproductive health services. It also provides education around risk reduction and disease prevention. The Community Health Worker would work primarily with education, outreach, and testing for the HIV Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) program in our reproductive health clinic.

As a Community Health Worker, your primary duties will include:

Expanding access to HIV testing in priority populations.

Coordinating outreach events, testing sites, and performing rapid HIV testing.

Assisting in the development and dissemination of relevant, culturally appropriate education materials and media messaging for HIV PrEP and other communicable disease prevention.

Planning and conducting outreach events to increase access to testing, education, and safer sex supplies.

Collaborating with community partners to promote PrEP, harm reduction, and other prevention services.

Building relationships with local organizations that serve priority populations.

Providing support in the evaluation and assessment of HIV prevention strategies and programs

Providing support to the reproductive health clinic.

Minimum required qualifications include:

High School Diploma or GED.

Completion of certification as a Community Health Worker (if not already certified) within 12 months of hire. Time/cost will be covered by employer.

High level of ability to operate in collaborative internal and external environments.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Preferred qualifications include:

Experience in community outreach, health education, or a related field.

This is a part-time, 5-year, grant funded position with the possibility of full-time work through 12/31/2025. It has an hourly rate of pay starting at $22.53, depending on qualifications. We also offer an excellent benefits package consisting of health, dental, vision, and life insurance, matched contributions into a retirement fund, paid holidays, and vacation and personal leave. Our offices are typically open Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. This position will have some evening and/or weekend hours depending on outreach events and community needs.
