DescriptionThe Role of the Job CaptainWe are seeking an experienced, quality driven, and solutions-minded individual ready to assist our Project Managers (PMs) and/or Project Architects (PAs) with project administration from schematic design through construction. As the job captain, you will serve as the internal technical team lead of an architectural building project. Your technical and leadership abilities will equip you to plan, organize, and manage the efforts of a production team to produce high-quality design and construction documents within an allotted time and budget.Your experience and background have prepared you to oversee the production of design deliverables, construction documentation, construction administration tasks, and other daily maintenance duties required to keep projects moving and on schedule. Your ability to create and maintain professional relationships will allow you to effectively manage client and consultant relationships. Clear communication to stakeholders throughout each stage of a project will result in the successful delivery of a project.On any given day, you’ll:

Produce, manage, and coordinate design and construction documents and details using Revit for projects of varying size and complexity.

Keep a schedule, stay on budget, and ensure the smooth operation of tasks.

Coordinate with engineering consultants, contractors, and client during all phases of project delivery.

Analyze building codes, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.

Ensure design specifications align with overall project design, codes, and regulatory requirements.

Provide work direction to ensure the team is completing projects within and/or before deadlines.

Collaborate with PM/PA to create aesthetic design that meets client design needs and budget.

Provide QAQC of internal work and consultant coordination.

Assist PM with project billing.

Attend construction site meetings.

Provide information, developmental support, and training to team members.

Utilize established office training processes and procedures designed to expand the knowledge and enhance the skills of the project team members.

Required Qualifications:

Associate degree or bachelor’s degree from an accredited Architectural program (or similar accredited program) and 4-8 years’ architectural project experience. (Project experience beyond 8 years may be considered an exception to educational degree requirement).

Proficiency in Revit, knowledge of ICC codes, experience in construction observation, consultant coordination, and regulatory agency coordination.

Basic knowledge of BIM360, Bluebeam, and MS Office programs.

Standard technical knowledge needed for construction documentation in a variety of construction methods, material types, and project types.

A willingness to travel on an as needed basis.

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Desired skills and experiences:

Ability to work independently, as well as, collaboratively as a team member.

Proven skill to follow up with staff, consultants, and client.

Basic knowledge of Sketch-Up.

Proven experience with a variety of building types and market sectors.

Excellent communication and organizational skills, a client service focus.

Ability to think outside the box to generate creative ideas and a passion for representing Ayres Associates in a professional manner.

Be active in civic and/or professional organizations.

Ability to foster an environment that lends itself to staff development/mentorship, allowing staff to feel competent, supported, and driven toward career development.
