Req Number 130924Job DescriptionProvides reception, customer service and information services to patients, visitors and the community. Assists in maintaining a friendly and welcoming environment and offering assistance to discharged patients who need assistance to a vehicle.Job Responsibility
Welcomes incoming patients and visitors and provides them with pertinent information; follows policies and procedures regarding disclosure of patient information and appropriately directs to department and floor; recognizes the special needs of patients and families under stress.
Demonstrates knowledge of visiting hours for all patient areas; welcomes ambulatory patients and directs them appropriately; demonstrates knowledge of current locations of ambulatory offices, departments, laboratories and patient areas.
Provides patient with hospital map; assists disabled patients with wheelchairs or escort if necessary; provides incoming visitors with information about meetings, conferences and other public information.
Demonstrates knowledge about the calendar of events provided by hospital departments, Professional Education and Public Affairs and by the Central Conference Scheduling; demonstrates knowledge of locations of meeting rooms throughout campus.
Enforces No Smoking policy in building entrance area so visitors are not exposed to smokers as they enter the building; directs smoking activity to appropriate areas; collaborates with Security Department in facilitating traffic flow in and out of the building; provides information and demonstrates knowledge of garage and valet parking procedures.
Provides information about parking options for visitors, ambulatory patients, meeting attendees and those picking up discharged patients; receives and monitors discharged patients waiting for a vehicle.
Receives patient from Support Care Associate or other unit staff and ensures their comfort while they wait for a vehicle in front of building; assists discharged patient to vehicle in wheelchair, as needed; uses proper body mechanics with all assists.
Demonstrates knowledge about discharge procedures on units and in cashier's office.
Secures and safely operates wheelchairs for those patients who require them for comfort or assistance; tracks the use of wheelchairs that are assigned to the lobby; reports and arranges for repair and cleaning of wheelchairs.
Helps in monitoring Lobby area and restrooms for cleanliness; removes litter and reports special occurrences to Zone staff.
