Materials Specialist - Seasonal

Join our team at Chelan County Public Utility District. As one of the largest hydroelectric generating utilities in the Northwest, our mission at Chelan PUD is to improve the quality of life for the thousands of people who call our pristine desert and mountain community home.

Overview

Support Utility Services and Generation operations and maintenance by serving them with materials, equipment and services needed to meet District objectives. This position has numerous responsibilities relating to procuring, issuing, receiving, storing, tracking and delivering materials for internal and external customers in a safe, efficient, professional and timely manner.

Responsibilities

- Issue, distribute and return materials from District warehouse stores to crews and contractors. Account for warehouse materials utilizing the District’s Maximo inventory control system. Perform cycle counts as needed to maintain accurate inventory control of warehouse materials and items.

- Ship and receive materials purchased for District purposes into warehouse stores and implement appropriate accounting and quality control procedures to account for the use of said materials.

- Keep warehouses and District property neat, safe, orderly and clean. This includes the warehouse storeroom, vehicles and dock area assigned to the warehouse. Provide assistance to customers entering the warehouse.

- Pack and unpack items to be stocked in warehouses. Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to foreman or supervisor.

- Teach and train customers and co-workers on (CQI) Continuous Quality Improvement methods and process for managing and accounting for materials inventories.

- Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

- As a secondary function, drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.

Qualifications

Education

Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.

- No post-secondary education required

- No higher-level education required.

Experience

- 2+ years Warehouse experience required. Experience issuing and returning materials, shipping and receiving and inventory control is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

- Valid Driver's License at hire and WA Driver's License within 30 days of hire required

- CPR – Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation with Valid First Aid Card within 180 Days required and

- Flagger Certification within 180 Days required

- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of PeopleSoft Receiving system Accounting software; Maximo Inventory software; Maximo Order processing systems; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook; and Microsoft Word.

- An individual should also have knowledge of and be able to operate general office equipment such as printers, faxes, label machines and copiers; and other equipment such as small hand tools, floor sweepers, forklifts, ladders and aerial man-lifts.

- An individual should be able to properly use personal protective equipment such as hardhats, fall restraint harnesses, ear plugs, safety glasses, face shields, respirators, confined space rescue equipment, etc.

- Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
