Description:
Our multi-age Early Childhood (ages 3-6) classroom environment provides a challenging and stimulating experience for children, and fosters great joy in learning as they make their own choices and discoveries. It offers younger children the opportunity to be curious, observe the older children and see what lies ahead for them with lessons and materials. For older students, it delivers a familiar learning environment, strong relationships with teachers and a fun and safe environment to develop the confidence to become a classroom leader.
As a Lead Early Childhood Afternoon Teacher, you will continue the curriculum and classroom norms from morning to afternoon and work with the morning teachers to know and understand the children’s day prior to your arrival. You will adapt expectations for the afternoon hours, recognizing that the students grow tired as their day goes on.
Being part of the Afternoon Program offers a unique experience of being both part of the classroom team and part of the afternoon team, requiring the Lead EC Afternoon Teacher to be a strong connector and communicator, with excellent organizational skills. There is a lot of room for leadership and development in how the late afternoon program is structured and there is a significant amount of involvement and responsibility with parent/teacher relationships given that the late afternoon program interfaces with many of the families that morning teachers may or may not see.
