Building Engineer I

The Building Engineer I will perform specific duties, working under limited supervision to ensure the building and/or portfolio of buildings are properly maintained and operating.  They will be responsible for engineering operations, as directed by the chief engineer, as well as assisting tenants. Entry-level trade skills to include plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. Duties:- Interacts with tenants to schedule repairs, such as light bulbs and ballast replacement, or HVAC for their suite.- Monitors building systems, including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing, to ensure that the operation of equipment is within design.- Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.- Performs preventative maintenance as assigned and monitors water chillers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchanges, air handling equipment, fans, automatic temperature controls, sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, valves, plumbing fixtures, and other mechanical and electronic equipment and systems in the building.- Helps to remove snow and ice from the outside of the building.- The position is considered essential personnel and is required to respond to after-hours emergencies.- Performs other duties as assigned.Physical Demands:- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
