To be the most sustainable and just technology company.The Director of Climate, Carbon, and Forestry will lead several of HP's key global climate teams, creating a center of excellence and best practices around carbon reduction. As the Carbon Leader, this role will be responsible for leading a global organization of subject matter experts to develop and drive the implementation of HP's decarbonization roadmap end to end across the entire value chain. This role is based centrally within the Supply Chain but actively works globally across functions and business units. You would be a key member of the Sustainable Impact Operations & Compliance (SIOC) leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Sustainability Officer. You will have accountability for spearheading the global efforts to ensure HP meets our short-term 50% absolute carbon reduction by 2030, and longer-term net zero by 2040 climate goals. Along with our industry leading commitment to zero deforestation - including our goal that every page printed through an HP Printer will be Forest Positive through our work with WWF, Conservation International, The Arbor Day Foundation, and other leading NGOs.This dynamic and challenging role will focus on reducing HP's footprint through innovative low carbon strategies, meaningful forestry partnerships, and evaluating opportunities for renewable energy across HP's scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. To ensure we are taking a data-based approach, this role also has accountability for HP's growing team of Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) experts. The role requires close collaboration cross-functionally with R&D, Print and Personal Systems Business Units, Sales, Marketing, Government Relations, and Supply Chain, alongside external engagement with key stakeholders. All with a goal of driving carbon footprint reduction, customer satisfaction, and sales growth by accelerating our journey to be the world's most sustainable and just tech company.Please note therefore our desired candidates should demonstrate proven successful leadership in these areas, and can share specific real examples in "Carbon, Climate or Forestry" as versus others who have not led company wide efforts in these areas yet.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

Lead a growing team of 10 - 15 technical experts across carbon, forestry, renewables, and life cycle assessment.

Ensure current and future products meet rapidly evolving customer, regulatory, and market access requirements.

Partner pan-HP to develop and execute a robust carbon footprint reduction strategy for the Personal Systems Hardware, Print Hardware, Supplies, 3D Printing, and emerging new business ventures to achieve HP's externally facing 2030 Sustainable Impact Goals.

Partner with the Supply Chain Responsibility team to ensure key contracted manufacturing partners and suppliers are driving carbon reductions and climate commitments in support of HP's Sustainable Impact 2030 goals. This includes partnering with our suppliers to help them along their journey towards meaningful science-based climate goals.

Partner with R&D and Product Stewardship teams to design-in Climate-friendly requirements as part of New Product Innovation (NPIs) or New Services (NSIs).

Communications - responding to customer, employee, government, and key stakeholder inquiries related to HP's Climate strategy and progress. Be cable of representing HP's climate program externally at industry events and conferences.

Inspire the team to work across complex and often ambiguous emerging climate regulatory frameworks that might impact product design or market access.

Ability to influence Executives and across functions developing deep technical, regulatory, and customer insights to proactively influence leadership within Supply Chain Operations and more broadly across multiple Business Units.

Ensure program and project discipline is in place to execute HP's Climate/Carbon/Forestry strategy in addition to core compliance and market access product requirements.

Thrive on the quickly changing external climate and carbon landscape - ensuring that HP maintains a leadership position across the industry and with our customers.

High visibility and impact - you will be a trusted 1:1 climate advisor to multiple Business and Functional executives.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Energy, or related field.

15+ years experience in supply chain or product related climate and carbon fields such as: energy, sustainability, supply chain engineering, climate change, forestry, and energy procurement.

Clear understanding of product flows across the cradle to grave product lifecycle within the tech industry (preferred) or similar consumer facing products.

In-depth understanding of global greenhouse gas protocols.

In-depth knowledge about science-based carbon reduction methodologies (SBTi).

Knowledge of various reporting standards (CDP, DJSI, TCFD, SASB).

Deep understanding of Life Cycle Assessment Methodologies for technology products with respect to carbon footprint.

Working knowledge of sustainable forestry, pulp, and paper technologies/standards (FSC).

Working experience with respect to developing and implementing a long-term carbon reduction roadmap. Hands-on experience successfully leading meaningful carbon reduction within a global company is a significant plus.

Strong working knowledge and experience in a wide range of technologies associated with energy efficiency and renewable energy (both thermal and electrical).

Experience with carbon offsets/credits, developing long-term, high-quality community/forestry partnerships, and leading forestry standards such as Verra VCS is a plus. Experience with emerging carbon capture technologies is also a plus.

Ability to translate complex concepts/data into simple to understand business reports and meaningful leadership insights.

Strong business acumen - ability to define problems and translate findings into a clear business case with tangible analysis. Applies a solid understanding of HP's financial systems and business models to prioritize the team's work, while helping refine future business opportunities.
