The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County is not associated with any government agency, nor affiliated with any national organization.JOB SUMMARY: The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible to inspect, maintain, repair and replace building mechanical and electrical systems. This position will work with access control systems, building heating and cooling systems, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, fire detection and alarm systems, landscaping and any other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer &/or Facilities Coordinator.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS: Evaluate, repair and maintain plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems in the buildingCommunicate with facilities management about any work that requires outside expert assistanceRespond to employee and customer reports of mechanical or maintenance issues in the buildingWork with tools and supplies necessary to complete projectsAlways maintain corporate safety procedures and comply with access control regulationsMaintain fire and alarm systemsPerform preventive maintenance on a scheduled basisInstalls new equipment and fixtures as neededTakes immediate action to address any safety concerns that could put a staff member, volunteer, customer, animal or the organization at riskPerform ad hoc handyman tasks as requiredRepresents the Society in a positive manner by professional personal appearanceEnsure a safe work environment, following all safety guidelines and modeling safe work practiceModel and encourage the humane treatment of animalsIs flexible with scheduling as needed to meet the needs of the organizationWilling and cooperatively performs other duties as assigned by proper authority, that may not be in specific job descriptionMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty well. Available to work weekends, holiday shifts and overtime as needed to complete projectsKnowledge of building components, such as elevator functions, HVAC, building codes, and preventive maintenanceOutgoing, polite and professional mannerTeam player, able to work in a fast-pace environment and multi-task.Communicate effectively orallyMust possess a valid and unrestricted Washington state driver’s license with a clean DMV record for the past 3 yearsMust have the ability to multi task, prioritize and handle high levels of stressPosition requires excellent organizational skills, as well as high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be dependable, have proven ability to meet deadlines and follow detailed instructions without need of constant support.Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent.Experience: Any acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in building and facility maintenance4+ years building maintenance experience preferredKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of (B/basic; J/journey; E/expert): Math skills (B)Speak, read, and write in the English language (B)This is a full time, benefited position.
