Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob DescriptionThe candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of projects for the rehabilitation of existing facilities. During unit commissioning, this role will be based on-site. When commissioning activities are not being performed, this position will be hybrid, based in Spokane, WA. As a member of the balance of plant engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for unit instrumentation, electrical systems, and auxiliary systems.Key Responsibilities:
Review technical contract specifications, identify design requirements, and develop concepts for solutions and systems.
Supervise designers and actively participate in the preparation and production of engineering documents, including block diagrams, instrument lists, electrical diagrams, instrument installation details, wiring routing drawings, cable lists, P&ID diagrams, and control panel specifications. Ensure compliance with technical specifications and applicable codes and standards.
Coordinate with various engineering teams, suppliers, and customers for the integration of applicable equipment systems.
Produce technical specifications for electrical equipment and review associated shop drawings.
Execute engineering instructions for work or inspections at the plant.
Monitor and update the budget and engineering schedule with project teams.
Organize and participate in design reviews.
Check and approve technical documentation produced under supervision.
Participate in the development and maintenance of design tools and rules.
Engage in problem-solving and root cause identification.
Prepare technical documentation for submission.
Review vendor engineering documentation to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
Resolve technical electrical installation issues during the assembly phase.
Be on-site during the commissioning phase, directing the commissioning of units, coordinating daily meetings, updating schedules, completing daily reports, and acting as the liaison between the client and commissioning engineers.
Contribute to overall quality and excellence in the execution of installation and commissioning.
Review designs and propose changes to reduce installation challenges, improve safety and quality, and reduce time and cost of installation.
Enhance the Field Services team’s technical excellence through support, training, and mentoring on best practices and calculations.
Support the project execution team on installation and commissioning matters.
Required Hard Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering.
Experience in turbine-generator instrumentation or equivalent industry experience.
Experience in general instrumentation and control system design.
Knowledge of hydroelectric or other power generation fields.
Familiarity with hydraulic power and control systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical CAD software.
Required Soft Skills:
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical problems.
Ability to design practical and cost-effective solutions.
Capability to manage multiple simultaneous projects.
Willingness to travel and work on-site 30% of the time.
Required to work on-site during unit commissioning.
Work Site:This hybrid position requires a mix of on-site days in Spokane Valley, Washington, and remote work.
