Ornamental Gate & Fence is in search of a service tech person to join our growing Access Control / Automatic Gate Systems service team. We have been servicing the Greater Spokane area for over 25 years. Over the years we have won awards for our outstanding gate systems and have gained the trust of hundreds of gate owners to provide maintenance and repairs on their Controlled Access Systems.

Pryor to starting this business I had a strong maintenance / millwright background. My drive for zero downtime and quality repairs was key to our success. The ability to pull a rabbit out of the hat was another strong point in our team.

electrical, low voltage, electrician, access controls, CCTV, HVAC, H.V.A.C.

Daily routines would start at the shop for a morning meeting then driving to perform one or more of the following.

1. Repair of malfunctioning system, possible problem may be in gate, hinge, Motor/operator, peripheral access control devices or underground conductors powering or controlling the device.

2. Excavating using mini excavator, installing conduit, conductors

3. Excavating and installing hinge posts and pouring and finishing footings and small concrete pads.

4. Acquiring necessary dimensions for future fabricated elements.

5. Installing gates or removing for repair.

6. Installing access control automation.

Most work is 120v down to control voltage with 12 to 24 volt DC.

As part of our dedication to quality service for our customers we have taken the steps to gain a 01 electrical contractor license. Installing everything from the meter / breaker panels down to the access controls is part of our full service package that we provide for our value clients. Part of our dedication to you will be to insure you gain an electrical license if you do not have one already.

Beginning

The low point is $25.00 hour but to be honest, we are not looking for a $25.00 per hour person on our team. We would hire an inexperienced person but it would only be with the understanding that, that person would need to be on a rapid track to being a star player on our team that we will want to drastically increase the wages to reflect the knowledge gained.

Semi Skilled

A person with a strong mechanical background and an understanding of AC and DC electrical power as well as some fabrication skills would pick up access control / Automatic Gate systems very fast and hit the ground running while still in training. Once again pay would be mutually agreed on depending on skill levels with the understanding that we will want to increase wages to retain our well qualified team members.

Skilled

Skilled Access Control /Automatic Gate Tech: A person well trained in the field that would be able to hit the ground running with basic training to help understand our standards and procedures. This would include possesing a Washington State electrical license. Once again pay would be mutually agreed on.

Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:00 pm

We have no layoffs and approximately 5 hours overtime a week

Tools we use:

1. Right angles grinders

2. Corded and cordless drills

3. Mig and stick welding

4. Volt / ohm meter as well as other electrical testing meters

5. Various hand tools

Skills used daily:

1. MATH

2. Welding

3. Cutting / heating / bending metal

4. Soldiering

5. Electrical testing

6. Drilling and tapping steel & aluminum

7. Drilling and anchoring in concrete

8. Compacting using a jumping jack compactor

9. Excavating using a mini

10. Hand digging.

11. Vehicle repairs when in a bind

12. Installing / replacing conduit and electrical components

13. Pulling and connecting electrical wire.

14. Measuring and leveling

15. Communicating with customers and over the phone.

16. Creativity in problem solving.
