The Lead Technology Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining all electronic systems specific to residential, commercial, new and remodel construction. The technician will: install electronic system equipment such as audio/video, security, surveillance, voice data and networking components; identify electronic systems problems with a variety of testing devices; repair or replace wiring and equipment using hand tools and power tools; and measure, cut, assemble, and install electronic systems wiring for residential and commercial construction. May be a part of a crew or the lead directing a crew.

Other duties may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform installation, modification and repair of electronic systems such as Control4, Lutron or Savant

Perform wire pull and wire termination

Intermediate knowledge of installation of electronic devices

Intermediate knowledge of parts and electronic material

Intermediate knowledge of LV cable types/termination methods

Responsible for field change orders, RFI’s and daily job reports, associated electronic system documents

Keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion

Maintain small tools and equipment case

Material handling and organizing

Assures materials are ready for next day’s job before leaving each day

Perform Technician training as needed

Maintain proper communication with Project Manager

Ensure efficiency in the field by utilizing available resources

Understand and comply with all safety requirements

Operate all equipment and tools in a safe manner

Wear all necessary personal protective equipment when required (including hard hat and safety glasses at all times)

Intermediate knowledge of programming, equipment configuration and calibration

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must have completed networking, security or control systems certified programs such as Control4, Lutron and Savant

Must have Live Scan

Must have 3-5 years’ experience in electronics systems field

Must hold a current Driver’s License

Must have reliable transportation

Must have required personal tools with them at all times (waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 lbs)

Positively identify colors of wires

Operate company trucks with manual and automatic transmission

Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered)

Read and interprets maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blue prints, written instructions and basic electrical symbols

Must be skilled and knowledgeable in the fields of electronics and construction

Ability to work with people and follow procedures

Ability to read and understand schematic drawings and blueprints

Requires ability to organize and prioritize tasks

Ability to perform under stressful conditions

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Graduate, holder of G.E.D or equivalent

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Speak, read and write English

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Basic math skills

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Intermediate to advanced computer skills

Lift 50lbs

Work from all types of ladders (step ladders up to 14’, “A” frame ladders and all size extension ladders and carry and relocate up to 12’ step ladder by one’s self)

Employee’s personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1-250lbs, Class 1A-300lbs)

Constantly moving on your feet

Perform work at various heights, up to 30’ from ladders, scaffold, aerial lifts, catwalks, or other safe work areas

Work in restricted areas

Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers

Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment

Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required and night shifts

Completing overhead work for full day assignments

Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use

Possess good vision (normal or corrected)
