RPG Research studies the effects of music and role-playing games, and their potential to improve lives, through our research, live streams, recorded media content, online training, and community programs.
The 501(c)3 non-profit research and human services charitable organization RPG Research (http://www.rpgresearch.com ) has multiple openings for Role-playing Game Master Trainees, Levels 1 through 4.

This is a volunteer unpaid opportunity. Required to be on site at various locations throughout the Spokane, Washington area.
Reports To: Programs Director
Days/Hours: Part-time, 4-8 hours/week. Some flexibility on which days and times.
REQUIRED: ATTEND 1 TRAINING SESSION PER WEEK, AND TWO PROGRAMS PER MONTH.
Training schedules may vary, but example days/times available (attend one per week):
- Sundays 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm
- Mondays 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm
- Saturdays 1 pm to 5 pm
Programs usually take place on (participate in two per month):
- Fridays 4-7 pm
- Saturdays 1-5 pm

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Prepare and run tabletop RPG sessions at various locations.
- Typically 1-6 players per session.
- Maintain complient with RPG Research rules and guidelines, including GM Code of Conduct.
- Complete assessment forms when appropriate.
- Prepare character sheets for participants to choose from.
- Run adventures ranging from "one shots" to ongoing mid-length and long-term campaigns.
- Address any group interpersonal issues, and maintain players compliance with RPG Research Player Code of Conduct.
- Attend either in-person at least one free training session per week (4 hours)
- Additionally attend at least 2 regular group sessions per month (game sessions typically 3-5 hours) (this is in addition to training sessions).
- Complete self-training materials (videos, essays, assignments, etc.)
- Complete quizzes/tests (usually at training session).
- Demonstrate excellent work ethic through regular timely attendance and regular communication.
Education and Training
Required:
- Must pass background check before allowed to work with clients. (May begin in-lab training before background check completion).
- Comprehensive knowledge of role-playing game system rules.
- Assertive (not aggressive) presence with confident but warm, friendly, empathetic, and compassionate communication style.
- Plan on a minimum 1 year commitment
- Okay with being on camera for live streaming (we live-stream most of our training sessions)
Optional but helpful:
- Experienced theatrical acting skills
- Effective voice acting skills
- Experience working with children
- Experience working with special needs or at-risk populations of all ages
- Experience volunteering in community or school settings
- xperience with gaming conventions
Formats include: tabletop (RPG / TRPG / TTRPG), live-action (LRPG / Larp), electron / computer-based (ERPG / CRPG), and hybrids (HRPG) such as solo adventure books and modules (SABM).

Working Conditions
Game Master will frequently work at RPG Research offices, studio(s), mobile game facilities, or other locations including but not limited to:
- Conventions
- Libraries
- Community centers
- Educational institutions
- Care facilities
- Internet broadcast studio(s)
- Mobile gaming facilities such as the Wheelchair Friendly RPG Trailer and/or RPG Bus at various locations.
Hours: Training: average 6 hours per week free training (we offer eeral training sessions per week, require attending at least one per week). Total around 4 to 8 hours per week.
Playing/GM: 8-10 hours per month (at least 2 sessions per month in addition to weekly training sessions).
Compensation: Volunteer (no financial compensation).
