Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, hard working and reliable Horticultural Assistant to join our Grounds team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about plants and gardening, who loves to work outside in a beautiful setting and has a desire to contribute to landscape maintenance. The Horticultural Assistant will assist in various tasks related to groundskeeping, flower and shrub care and overall landscape management, ensuring that our floral and green spaces thrive.
This position is for 10 months of the year, working the morning shift, 40 hours per week, outside.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the maintenance of gardens, beds and landscaped areas, ensuring they are healthy and visually appealing.
Perform groundskeeping tasks including trimming, weeding and planting.
Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for various horticultural tasks.
Assist with irrigation systems and hand watering to ensure proper hydration of plants and landscapes.
Monitor plant health for signs of pests or disease and report issues as necessary.
Collaborate with team members to execute landscape projects efficiently.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools and equipment.
Requirements:
Experience in groundskeeping or landscape maintenance is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with lawn care practices.
Ability to operate hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruners, as well as power tools like trimmers, carts.
Knowledge of gardening practices including planting, pruning and pest management is a plus.
Physical stamina to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Attention to detail and a passion for horticulture and the environment.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting while also being self-motivated.
