Job ad for Head Bartender

Gander and Ryegrass is a fine dining restaurant in the heart of downtown Spokane. We make everything we serve in house, from pasta and bread to bitters for cocktails. We put a lot of heart into what we are doing in the kitchen, behind the bar and throughout the dining room. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic head bartender who takes the craft of making a cocktail and the art of hospitality seriously, has a great personality and will take care of their teammates. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating exceptional customer experiences, excellent leadership skills, and an extensive knowledge of mixology and bar operations. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of service, training staff, ensuring the bar runs smoothly, and contributing to our bar's overall success.

Our dinner menu is focused on coursed meals with beverage pairings, so each table carries with it a huge amount of detail that needs to be attended to while coordinating with your teammates in both the kitchen and the FOH. Bartenders are required to know and be practiced in the full dining room menu and the service requirements, as it is likely that you will have a couple shifts on the floor as a server or depending on the night a handful of tables in the dining room while making drinks.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

At least 5 years of experience as a bartender, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management position.

Proven track record of managing a bar team in a high-volume environment.

Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, and beers.

Understanding of bar equipment, sanitation standards, and safety protocols.

Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead, inspire, and manage a diverse team.

Customer Service: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.

Problem-Solving: Ability to think on your feet and handle challenges under pressure.

Financial Acumen: Experience with inventory management, budgeting, and controlling costs.

If this feels like a good fit for you please email us for a full job description.
