Safety Training Coordinator

OXARC has been providing welding and industrial supplies, as well as, medical and specialty gases since 1968. OXARC is headquartered in Spokane, Washington with 22 stores in WA, ID and OR.

Job Summary: Organize and conduct environmental health and safety trainings throughout OXARC and OXARC clients. Responsible for developing, planning and facility job-related OSHA safety training to new and existing employees. Will identify best workplace practices with the overall goal to eliminate hazards, increase safety awareness and develop safe work habits.

Duties include:

Deliver in-person and online training to a wide variety of clients and employees.

Facilitate training and education internally and externally on the following topics:

External courses- Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Lockout Tagout, Ladder Safety, PPE, Respiratory Protection and how to conduct fit testing.

Internal courses- Includes all external courses as well as; Propane filling, Forklift training, DHS requirements, Chemical and gas segregations (NFPA and DOT), Spill cleanup, Hazardous material disposal (RCRA requirements), new employee safety orientation, DOT Hazmat Security, and other training as needed.

Professionally speak in front of small and large audiences on a regular ongoing basis.

Collaborate with management to identify training needs.

Develop training programs and curriculum for OXARC and its clients.

Management of developed training programs to include; training documentation, retention of records, materials and items used.

Maintain registration with State agencies for issuance of Continuing Education Credits (CEUs).

Maintain technical knowledge by staying current with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and DHS regulations.

Provide support and mentoring for new employees while conducting an evaluation and identifying deficiencies and areas of improvement.

Requirements include:

Bachelor’s Degree in a science, business or related degree field preferred

3 years’ experience with environmental and or industrial health and safety preferred

Possess a thorough knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws in Environmental Health and safety

Must have experience in some of the respective subject matter

Must be willing to travel

Drug screen and background check required.

Salary Range: The salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary for this position which is $25.00/hr.-$32.00/hr.DOE

Clothing wear out/allowance program. Voluntary benefit options include life, AD&D insurance. Employees are eligible for most benefits on the first of the month following 90 days of employment. However, some benefits have different qualifying periods. Medical, dental, vision and prescription insurance is effective on the 90th day of employment.
