Construction Repair Specialist

Summary: As a Construction Repair Specialist, you are integral to Habitat for Humanity’s goals of critical home repairs to protect families from displacement throughout our service area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with hands-on construction tasks including, but not limited to, site prep, framing, roofing, fine carpentry, landscaping and clean up. Additionally, you will lead small groups of volunteers, providing them with on-site orientations, safety talks, and are provided with all information and tools they may need while on the work sites. On occasion, you may participate in larger community projects or affiliate events.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This position works 8:00am – 4:00pm Tuesday – Saturday and is located at the assigned job site in the Island County.

This job operates on an active construction site and will require climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions and during all kinds of weather conditions. The employee must frequently lift, move and/or load items over 50 pounds with mechanical assistance or a team lift.

Job requirements

Coordinate sub-contractors for skilled labor work on repair work.

Work with homeowners to determine needs.

Meet job deadlines on services provided in the repair program.

Must have great attention to detail on all work completed.

Responsible for all scheduling for the repair program

Benefits

Full time hourly position, Nonexempt

Hourly range $27 - $31 depending upon experience.

Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, paid vacation, and sick leave options.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Min. 1 year experience in the construction/contracting business, specifically as a carpenter or framer preferred.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience either in managing volunteers or as a volunteer.

Ability to effectively work with, manage and lead volunteers.

Excel at multi-tasking with various projects and deadlines; attention to detail.

Excellent oral communication skills; effective with diverse audiences.

Employment is contingent on passing a background check.
