Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Butcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing meat for sale by performing various duties such as cutting, trimming, boning, grinding, and packaging. The Butcher ensures all products meet quality and safety standards while providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities/Requirements:

Slaughter animals (beef, pork, lamb, other) and prep for processing

Cut, trim, bone, grind, and prepare meat products (beef, pork, poultry, etc.) for sale or distribution.

Weigh, package, and label cuts of meat.

Mix, grind, stuff and smoke sausages and other value added products.

Ensure proper storage and handling of all meat products to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and tools.

Monitor meat temperatures and rotate stock to ensure product quality.

Provide advice to customers on meat selection, preparation, and cooking techniques.

Sharpen and maintain knives, saws, and other cutting tools.

Comply with health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.

Receive, inspect, and store incoming meat shipments.

Follow directions and standard operating procedures

Open to a varied work environment that can be physically challenging.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Proven experience as a butcher or meat cutter preferred.

Knowledge of meat preparation techniques and cuts.

Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.

Ability to lift heavy items and work in cold environments.

Good customer service and communication skills.

Food safety or HACCP certification is a plus.

Working Conditions:

Work may involve standing for long periods and lifting heavy items.

Must be comfortable working with raw meat and in refrigerated environments.

Shift work, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
