Full Time Luxury Hotel Maintenance Engineer

SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance to all areas of the hotel to include guest rooms, meeting spaces, and front and back of the house areas. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the Lodge is maintained in the best possible condition at all times with the least amount of inconvenience to guests and employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs repairs and preventative maintenance of electrical components, boilers, refrigeration systems, air conditioning, plumbing and fixtures.

Maintains kitchen and laundry facilities and equipment.

Maintains building/guestroom heating and cooling systems.

Responsible for painting rooms and hallways.

Responds to guest concerns related to repairs within guest rooms.

Inspect guestrooms, public spaces and back of the house areas to repair, touch up or replace light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall covering, caulking, grouting or other miscellaneous repairs. This requires the individual to visually inspect and detect items needing repair and requires a considerable knowledge of a wide variety of maintenance trades.

Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical experience is used frequently on the job.

Must be able to work with minimum supervision on assigned tasks.

Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Wage range: $29.00/Hour - $32.50/Hour

11 days of PTO accrued in the first year based on an employee working 40/hours each week

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training.

Hands on knowledge of all maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, drywall, painting, HVAC, and energy management.

Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment.

Skill in the use of related tools (including both hand and electric tools).

Basic English language communication and mathematical skills in order to communicate with co-workers, fully comprehend job assignments and perform accurate simple arithmetic functions.

Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping and kneeling.

Ability to push and pull objects or materials weighing up to 200 lbs.

Ability to climb stairs and ladders, working at heights up to approximately 30 feet, for extended periods of time, with the ability to reach, often times overhead.

Ability to grasp, lift or carry items weighing up to 100 lbs. occasionally waist high.

Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.

Ability to deal with a number of problems requiring initiative and good judgement.

Ability to move and work throughout the hotel for the duration of the shift.

Basic computer experience required.

Must be familiar with all safety practices related to all Engineering equipment and its use.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, emails, and memos.

Ability to write emails.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, vendors, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to read a tape measure.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to work inside or out; sometimes in inclement weather.
