Full time Helper / Sandblaster

New Finishes is a locally owned business focused on providing local commercial and industrial customer’s quality paint/powder finishes to meet end customer needs. The helper/sandblaster we are seeking will be a critical support role before the powder coating/painting process.

Our company services all types of local manufacturers and as a result we have work of all shapes and sizes, often requiring the use of a forklift and/or other material handling equipment to safely handle and move. Forklift experience is a plus.

We are looking for someone who has at least 6 months of sandblasting experience. This individual has demonstrated themselves capable of quickly learning and applying the skills to properly handle materials throughout the sandblasting process.

This is a full-time position. Daytime hours with overtime opportunity. Must be flexible with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Blasting metal parts with garnet to remove mil scale & oils providing a clean surface for powder or liquid coating.

Prepares surfaces using blast equipment utilizing knowledge of the materials, tools and fixtures used in the process.

Loads blaster tank with abrasive materials.

Adjusts regulation of air from compressor, varies concentration of grit to obtain required surface finish.

Inspects and maintains equipment for compliance with safety requirements.

Corrects any safety issue prior to operating the equipment.

Cleaning and maintaining the blast booth.

Utilize and maintain all personal protective equipment in performance of assigned duties and tasks.

Maintaining and cleaning filters as needed.

Keeping tools and supplies in their designated areas

Sweep floors, empty garbage, recycle cardboard & stack pallets around the blast booth area

Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures

Racking / Un-racking of unfinished and finished parts

Packaging

Ability to jump from task to task when needed

Prepping parts for the lead painters/powder coaters/sandblasters

Loading/unloading of trucks

Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma

One year experience working in a sandblasting environment

Ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools and equipment, including sandblasting and pressure washing equipment

Ability to set rigging and operate lifts and small cranes as needed to perform work

Strong communication and organization skills

Ability to speak English

Basic reading skills

Forklift experience

Able to lift and/or move up to 70 lbs.

Able to communicate and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented atmosphere

Maintain schedule and tasks despite interruptions

Be able to take direct feedback on work performance and adjust as necessary
