Pacific One Construction is a dedicated construction subcontractor specializing in apartment new construction in the greater Seattle area. With a team of approximately 100 skilled employees, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality work while maintaining a strong commitment to safety. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Safety and Compliance Manager to join our team and ensure a safe working environment for all our employees.

Job Summary:

The Safety and Compliance Manager will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's safety programs and policies. This position will be responsible for conducting new hire orientations, leading weekly safety meetings, performing site inspections, managing Labor & Industries (L&I) interactions, handling certification management, and investigating accidents. The ideal candidate will have experience with L&I claims management, aiming to minimize costs and reduce time loss associated with workplace injuries.

Key Responsibilities:

New Hire Orientation: Conduct comprehensive safety orientations for all new employees to ensure they understand safety policies and procedures.

Weekly Safety Meetings: Plan, organize, and lead weekly safety meetings to discuss current safety issues, review incidents, and promote a culture of safety.

Site Inspections: Regularly inspect job sites to identify potential hazards, ensure compliance with safety standards, and recommend corrective actions.

L&I Management: Manage all interactions with Washington State Department of Labor & Industries, including handling injury claims, maintaining records, and working to minimize costs and time loss associated with workplace injuries.

Certification Management: Oversee the management of employee safety certifications, ensuring all required certifications are up-to-date and properly documented.

Accident Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations of workplace accidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Safety Program Development: Assist in the development and implementation of safety programs, policies, and procedures to continuously improve workplace safety.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.

Training: Provide ongoing safety training and education to employees to promote awareness and adherence to safety practices.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of safety inspections, training sessions, accident reports, and L&I claims.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety administration role within the construction industry.

Extensive knowledge of Washington State L&I regulations and experience managing L&I claims.

Strong understanding of OSHA standards and other relevant safety regulations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to conduct effective training sessions and safety meetings.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, CSP, CHST).

Experience with safety management systems and software.

Bilingual in English and Spanish.
