The Automotive Service Technician maintains, repairs, and performs quality service operations for vehicles. The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience, safety inspections, and diagnostics. Candidates must have a professional set of tools to use on the job, a strong technical performance record, and strong physical dexterity and stamina to get the job done. Candidates must be able to work productively in a fast-paced team environment and must be able to deliver quality results.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles and completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters, etc.
Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints, conducting inspections, repairing component failures, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, and replacing parts and components
Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.
Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed
Follows all safety and security procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED preferred
Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience
5+ years related experience and/or training
Must have own tools/box
Commitment to safety management
Strong diagnostic, problem solving, and analytical skills
Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
Able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as a member of a team
Broad scope of automotive mechanical/electrical knowledge
Dedication to punctuality and attendance is vital
Basic computer and internet skills
