We have a Laboratory Assistant position available that offers the opportunity to work in a commercial laboratory providing stable isotope ratio analytical services. Our analytical lab conducts a significant amount of research on stable isotope ratios using 3 Isotope Ratio Mass spectrometers with different peripherals, a Laser Ablation, and 2 Multi-Collector ICPMS systems. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will ensure samples are received, prepared, and analyzed appropriately according to internal SOPs. You will be documenting and communicating any issues with Project Managers. You will also be responsible for calibration of equipment; lab maintenance and cleaning; preparation of laboratory reagents and solutions; and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

BS in chemistry, environmental science, or a closely-related field, with emphasis on natural abundance stable isotope ratio measurements.

Familiarity with working in a stable isotope lab with stable isotope applications.

Experience running and/or maintaining analytical instruments, such as LC-MS, GC-MS or GC-IRMS instruments, and experience with R, python, or Matlab is preferred.

Knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures for isotope ratio data (preferred).

Ability to multi-task and stay on top of many projects at the same time.

Positive, can-do attitude and ability to work in groups and ability to be a team player.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The pay rate for this position is $22.00 - $24.00 hourly, depending on experience. Full-time employees are eligible for the following benefits after a brief waiting period: medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability insurance, 401(k), health and dependent care FSA plans, employee assistance program, 15 days of paid time off per year for sick leave and/or vacation, 3 days paid bereavement leave, and 6 paid holidays per year.
