Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

The Senior Network/System Administrator (Microsoft Windows) is responsible for ensuring a stable and secure computing infrastructure, including the technical implementation of the modernization plans developed by the Senior Infrastructure Architect. The candidate will be responsible for cybersecurity management, implementing system security and compliance configurations, implementing vulnerability and risk assessment capabilities, identifying, and reporting vulnerabilities, and leading the effort to remediate risk. Additional responsibilities include leading any responses to cybersecurity incidents, including coordinating with EPA ISOs. An additional duty includes continuous research and assessment and analysis of emerging cybersecurity vulnerabilities and threats. Under general direction, manages the purchase, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/WAN systems. Responsible for evaluating current systems. Works on complex problems where analysis of the situation requires in-depth evaluation of various factors. Plans large-scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies. Provides work leadership and training to lower-level network engineers. Requires expert knowledge of LAN/WAN systems, networks, and applications.

Other responsibilities: Provides high-level technical expertise in network administration, including management of firewalls, switches, and routers. Administers Microsoft Windows-based systems, including performance-tuning, advanced monitoring, disaster recovery services, patch, and update management. Ensures compliance with relevant Federal security requirements (i.e., FISMA and FedRAMP). Advises Senior Infrastructure Lead Architect on various technology issues and software and hardware needs. Creates and manages virtual servers, platforms, and environments both internally and Cloud-hosted. Essentially the Sr. Network/Systems Administrator ensures secure and stable computing environments.

Firewall: SonicWall On-premises Intrusion Prevention, App Control, VLAN segmentation, AWS VPC VPNs, Remote Access SSL VPN, and Access Point Control; Vulnerability Management: Rapid7; Patch Management: MS WSUS for Windows OS and applications, and Solar Winds Patch Manager. Compliance and Configuration: AD Group Policies; Active Directory Auditing; Antivirus: Symantec Endpoint Protection; Certificate Authority; Ransomware and Data Protection.
