Retail + Market Day Support (Part-Time | Student-Friendly)
Overview:
Seattle Local Markets is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented person to join our small but mighty team. This is a part-time, hands-on role offering consistent weekend shifts and occasional evening market work. You’ll support our warehouse sales in Magnolia and help bring our neighborhood markets to life, all while getting a behind-the-scenes view of Seattle’s vintage and small business scene.
About the Role:
You’ll work directly with our team to support weekend warehouse operations and scheduled market days. This is a physical, customer-facing role; perfect for someone who likes variety, organization, and working with their hands. There’s a lot of movement, occasional tools involved, and the satisfaction of helping pull off a great event or beautifully reset space.
Schedule & Hours:
Weekends: Saturdays and Sundays
Market Days: As scheduled (evenings and weekends)
Hours vary based on event and warehouse needs; flexibility is key
Must be responsive to scheduling texts/emails from Market Manager
Core Responsibilities:
Warehouse Support (Saturdays & Sundays)
Greet and assist customers during warehouse sales
Ring up purchases at the register podium (training provided)
Restock, sweep, tidy, and reset floor as needed
Help tag, price, or lightly repair vintage inventory
Support layout changes: moving furniture, refreshing displays
Assist with admin tasks like sorting supplies or organizing bins
Keep tools/supplies returned to their designated areas
Market Day Support (Second Saturdays, Third & Last Thursdays)
Arrive on time and check in with Market Lead
Assist with vendor load-in/load-out and customer service
Help with signage, booth layout, setup/teardown
Follow Market Lead instructions throughout the event
Represent Found Markets with friendliness and reliability
Requirements:
Must be able to lift 40 lbs and perform regular physical tasks
Comfortable going up ladders, using tools, and moving furniture
Organized, helpful, and happy to pitch in wherever needed
Comfortable working independently once trained
Availability on weekends and select weeknights required
Prior retail, event, or customer service experience a plus — but not required
