Reports To: Program Director

Schedule: Weekdays

Compensation: $24.63-27.72/hr., depending on experience; medical/dental benefits, life insurance, paid leave (2 weeks of vacation, 2 weeks of wellness, and 11 paid holidays)

Position Description

The Youth Program Manager is the supervisor for the Youth Program Coordinator, who oversees GRuB’s Tier 1 youth program, GroundED, which serves youth ages 14-21 in seasonal programs. The GroundED program is a job training program for students who have IEP or 504 plans, or other documented educational disabilities, where they learn job readiness skills and tangible hard skills by participating in the operations of our small sustainable farm. This position also supervises the Farm Manager, who oversees farm operations, farm education, and supervision of youth alumni in leadership positions. Most of all, this position’s priority is to guide the team in delivering empowering programs for youth that supports GRuB in fulfilling its mission. Key Position Responsibilities:

YOUTH PROGRAM LEADERSHIP, PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT

● Enliven the purpose of the Youth Program Circle, and continuously evolve ways to increase impact and fulfill purpose

● Develop and maintain inherited relationships with youth agencies and schools in our community

● Manage the Youth Program Circle’s annual and multi-year plan, including developing annual objectives and activities, overseeing implementation, and coordinating evaluation; in addition to general youth program and farm work

● Regularly update program narratives, reports & evaluation metrics and enliven Youth Programs’ presence in GRuB’s outreach

● Supervise Youth Program Staff and Interns, including regular performance reviews, coaching and check-ins anchored in personal & circle-wide annual plans, key results and action plans

● Develop program-specific procedures and systems that reflect GRuB’s values and policies; monitor compliance with and support the implementation of organization-wide policies and procedures within circles

● Represent GRuB’s Youth programs with partners and in relevant networks

● Ensure collaboration of Youth Programs with other GRuB programs and operations

● Participation in program delivery and filling in for program staff

FUNDRAISING & FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT

● Manage the budget for the Circle, including preparing annual and multi-year budget proposals, managing income & expenses, and reviewing financial reports

● Collaborate with the FUN team on program-specific fundraising activities, including grants, campaigns, events, and value-added initiatives

● Oversee spending for Youth Program Circle to ensure staff are spending money according to the approved budget and financial partner/funder commitments

● Participate in grant prospecting, grant writing, and grant reports for Youth Programs in accordance with directives from the Grants Coordinator and Program Director

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION, COLLABORATION

● Oversee adaptations of current programs

● Identify new partners for programs

● Collaborate internally and externally to meet existing program goals and objectives, while supporting other programs in meeting theirs

● Project management to expand, bring back, or add programs

ORGANIZATIONAL STEWARDSHIP

● Uphold all-staff expectations and participate in stewardship of GRuB land and Farmhouse

● Contribute to fundraising activities including all-hands-on-deck participation in Soirée, May There Be Gardens, end-of-year donor calls, and continual cultivation of new donors

● Serve as a GRuB ambassador at a minimum of two outreach events per year

● Ability and willingness to be part of a fun, enthusiastic workplace

Desired Qualifications

● Program management, including budgeting, financial management & program evaluation

● Passion for and experience in gardening/farming, food justice work

● Experience in youth empowerment programming; as a participant and/or staff member

● Personnel management (experience may include paid staff, AmeriCorps members, interns, and volunteers)

● A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field

● Positive and adaptable systems thinker; Identifies opportunities to connect and synergize projects

● Non-profit and/or social entrepreneurship business development experience is strongly preferred

● Excellent communicator and facilitator

● Able to work collaboratively and build collaborative teams

● Skilled and creative with multiple forms of non-profit technology, including experience using databases (CRM), proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Suite, and web-based software applications

● Ability to work productively in an open, active office environment

Work Conditions

● This position will be 100% in-person, with remote work reserved for special circumstances, and occasionally during less active program times

● Outdoor farm tasks across three seasons, include moderate lifting, crouching, repetitive motion

● Long periods of being on your feet

● Long periods of being at a desk, on a computer indoors
