NOW HIRING: Programming Assistant (Part-Time, Two Positions Available)
POSITION OVERVIEW: Part time position working directly with the Pizza Klatch Executive Director and alongside a second Programming Assistant, the PAs will be responsible for supervising/training volunteer facilitators as well as facilitating support groups in 3-4 schools per week. Programming Assistants will help organize klatch schedules weekly, represent Pizza Klatch at tabling events and speaking engagements and help organize monthly facilitator meetings.
HOURS PER WEEK: 25

OUR VISION:
LGBTQ+ youth will be empowered to self-advocate, build community, develop confidence, and easily access resources as they explore and develop their identities. School will be a positive and supportive space where LGBTQ+ youth are accepted and celebrated – free to learn without violence, harassment, discrimination, suicidal ideation or self- harm.
Pizza Klatch offers weekly support groups for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies in Thurston County, Washington. PK provides free pizza, two trained facilitators for each group, and a convenient and safe forum for discussion and education. Presently there are 27 Pizza Klatch groups at 14 local high schools and 1 middle school, attended by 2-30 students per lunch. Approximately 200-300 youth per week are served throughout Thurston County.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer Supervision, Training and Organization
Program Assistants will lead volunteer facilitator supervision, coordination, and training, and will report regularly to the Executive Director, ensuring programming remains mission aligned
Maintaining records pertaining to volunteers, partner sites, volunteers, attendance, evaluation and all aspects of the program
Ongoing analysis of programming to further program development
Provide ongoing program reporting to the Executive Director and Board of Directors
Co-facilitate weekly support groups in local middle and/or high schools for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies.
Co-facilitate Pizza Klatch support groups at multiple school locations throughout rural and urban Thurston County, at least 3-4 schools per week
Maintain effective working relationships with volunteer Pizza Klatch Facilitators.
Maintain effective working relationships with local school personnel at each of our partner sites, organizing and attending beginning of the year and end of the year meetings with school contacts and PK Executive Director
Organizing monthly Deep Dish meetings, and community outreach events
Conduct outreach to LGBTQ+ youth and key stakeholders in school based settings and community events for the purpose of maintaining trust, increasing awareness of services and to ensure that this position stays directly connected to the issues faced by LGBTQ+ youth.
Design and present training courses on Pizza Klatch and topics related to LGBTQ+ youth support at community events, conferences, and partner schools and community groups
Represent Pizza Klatch during community events such as Capital City Pride, fundraising events, School Board meetings and other tabling opportunities
Responsible for organizing monthly facilitator meetings known as ‘Deep Dish’ at the Pizza Klatch office space
Provide Advocacy Based Counseling to LGBTQ+ youth.
Provide advocacy based counseling to victims/survivors of violence, harassment and sexual prejudice, including but not limited to homophobia and transphobia
Coordinate with relevant organizations/service providers to increase effectiveness and availability of advocacy services
Keep informed of best practices, developments and trends in supporting LGBTQ+ youth and be alert to changing community needs
Meet with school counselors, admin, teachers, parents etc with youth as needed to advocate
Documentation, Reporting, Training & Other Tasks as assigned.
Document weekly attendance numbers at klatches for grant purposes
Consult with volunteers and other service providers on appropriate intervention service delivery and problem solving
Assist board members and committee chairs as needed
Participate as needed in fundraising activities for Pizza Klatch
Help to organize end of year anonymous students surveys in each klatch
Complete all paperwork in a timely manner
Commit to ongoing training and education
THE IDEAL CANDIDATES FOR THESE POSITIONS WILL:
Be 22+ or at least 4 years out of high school
Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license
Must provide own transportation and insurance coverage within the first 30 days of employment
Must be committed to the mission, vision and values of Pizza Klatch
Must have a complete understanding of intersectional identities and be committed to anti-racism
Preferred to be either a member of the LGBTQ+ community or have close lived experience working with LGBTQ+ people
Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check (no crimes against persons)
Excellent communication and organization skills
Outgoing and self-directed with ability to work as part of a team
Proficient with Google Suite or willingness to learn
Proficient in social media and/or a willingness to learn
Comfortable speaking in front of groups and at public events
