Water Jet Operator - Swing Shift

Specialty Metals Corporation has a career opportunity available on our swing shift for a Waterjet Operator. The swing shift hours are 3:00pm - 11:30pm Monday thru Friday. The Waterjet Operator position is responsible for processing assigned orders that require water-jet cutting. This role will ensure that assigned orders are processed in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining production to the quality standards described in our Quality Manual and applicable Procedures. This role will also ensure that product outputs conform to all of the customer's requirements and noted specifications, and that identified discrepancies are handled in an expedient manner following the appropriate quality processes.

Primary Job Duties

Inspect the waterjet and other associated equipment for safety and mechanical condition prior to use; initiate the appropriate actions for any identified discrepancies

Identify and handle materials to be waterjet cut per applicable procedures

Identify customer requirements, which may include reading drawings or blueprints, and approach product related activities from the customers' perspective

Identify inspection criteria

Set-up and operate the waterjet to cut parts per the work order, supporting documents, and all applicable procedures

Finish, package and stage final products for shipment

Complete required job forms, including associated nests and work order documentation

Use appropriate quality procedures and tools to initiate the management of discrepancies and opportunities

Package completed orders and complete all required documentation

Qualifications:

Prefer experience operating waterjets, forklifts and overhead cranes along with other types of hand and power tools

Safety conscious and quality oriented

Strong work ethic and a team player

Familiar with set up procedures for shearing different sizes and grades of metals

Ability to decipher blue prints, drawings and sketches

Ability to read a tape measure, calipers and micrometers

Forklift and overhead crane experience
