Job Description:
The Project Manager is a multitasking role responsible for preparing proposals and supporting projects throughout the production process. This position requires a background in the metal fabrication industry and works closely with the shop on completing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform material takeoffs to identify materials and services required for a project.
Work with customers throughout the bidding process to clarify design elements and specifications.
Estimate labor hours, and work with external vendors to price materials and services as needed: steel, forming, coating, machining, fasteners, etc.
Prepare proposals that clearly define scope of work, pricing, exceptions & clarifications, terms & conditions, delivery, etc.
Work with management on pricing and negotiations to handle issues as they come up.
Once awarded, review customers’ purchase order and contract documents for consistency with scope of work
Provide support and necessary resources to the shop for accurate and timely project completion.
Monitor deviations from the proposed scope of work and generate Change Order as needed.
Track actual performance of jobs vs estimated targets for hours and material costs.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience with a steel fabricator in an estimating or shop supervisory capacity.
Must be able to read and interpret project drawings and specifications.
Thorough knowledge of metal fabrication methods, materials and welding procedures
Strong communications and teamwork skills.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and producing layouts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook
