CNC Operator - Case Foam & Packaging Specialist

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Case Foam & Packaging Specialist to own the end-to-end process of manufacturing and delivering in-house case foam packaging. This role requires expertise in CNC machining, preferably on a router, as well as experience with CAM software. The ideal candidate will have hands-on assembly skills, strong organizational abilities, and excellent communication skills to interface with engineering, supply chain, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities:

> Program and operate CNC routers to cut case foam to precise specifications.

> Utilize CAM software to generate toolpaths (Fusion 360 experience is a plus).

> Assemble foam components using adhesives and other fastening methods.

> Own the entire foam packaging process, from raw stock to final production delivery of finished cases.

> Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to engineering to optimize designs for production efficiency.

> Set up and manage new job workflows.

> Coordinate with the supply chain team to communicate material requirements and ensure timely procurement.

> Develop and maintain clear communication channels with production to align on packaging timelines and requirements.

> Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to Freefly quality standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

> Hands-on experience with CNC machining, preferably on a router.

> Familiarity with CAM software; Fusion 360 experience is strongly preferred.

> Understanding of material properties, particularly foams and adhesives.

> Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.

> Experience with assembly and adhesive bonding techniques.

> Strong problem-solving skills and ability to provide actionable DFM feedback.

> Excellent organizational and time management skills.

> Ability to work independently and take full ownership of processes.

> Effective communication skills to coordinate across multiple teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

> Experience in packaging design and manufacturing.

> Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems.

> Background in a production or manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements:

> Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.

> Comfortable working in a shop or production floor environment.

Compensation

> Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000/yr depending on experience
