CNC Machinist Level 2

Specialty Metals has a career opportunity for a CNC Machinist/Programmer on our day shift. As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of machinists, you will be a participant in the development and modification of NC programs for mill and lathe. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of producing accurate programs, set-up sheets and tool lists enabling first article success on tight tolerance high value parts. This position will directly affect the quality and efficiency of production and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable-machined parts.

Primary Job Duties

Development of machining strategy to take design data and produce machined parts

Develop programs using MasterCAM

Design custom tools and fixtures as needed

Develop set-up sheets

Communicate with sales, customers and other machinists

Work with sales on machine time estimates and job specific tooling costs

Process improvement (both machining actual inputs and process changes)

Maintain configuration control on files and job records

Safely work within an industrial environment

Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC Programming

Excellent blueprint reading skills

Fixture design

Set-up sheet creation

Initial feeds and speeds

Cutter selection

5 years of machining experience with both Mill and Lathe

Design for manufacture experience

Excellent Communication

Must have experience in Stainless, Aluminum, Titanium, and other exotic materials

Experience using precision hand and measuring tools

Individual must be self-motivating

Desired

Programming experience with recent versions of MasterCAM preferred

Fusion 360 and BobCAD Version 30 experience helpful
