Role summary

The Senior Strategist role is focused on supporting, and occasionally leading, bodies of work across service lines and practice areas at Pyramid, with an emphasis on campaigns and other large, fast-paced bodies of work.

Strategists at Pyramid are skillful listeners, synthesizers, and doers—managing teams, work flows, resources and client relationships to make the best, highest impact work possible. They also serve in a project management role, holding primary responsibility for all internal and external team and client coordination, as well as effective management of project budgets, deadlines, and details, ensuring projects are driven forward in a timely and efficient manner.

The ideal candidate will be able to apply their communications and strategy experience to the completion of specific deliverables—from communications and campaign plans, to messaging, to toolkits, to implementation, and many things in-between.

This role may also have strong intersections with Pyramid’s Indian Country team, which supports the sovereignty of Native people, Tribal Nations, and Indigenous-led organizations. Pyramid’s Indian Country team equips our clients in Indian Country with the communications tools they need to tell their stories effectively and achieve their goals while navigating systemic barriers.

Responsibilities will primarily include:

- Working closely with clients and internal teams to develop a clear vision of success for projects, and to align project teams around that vision, project goals, and scope of work

- Serving as the project lead for some bodies of work, leading strategy and executing deliverables

- Contributing insights and delivering services to client projects ranging from research, to content development, to campaign management, to facilitation

- Contributing to the development of proposals

- Supporting the development of communications and marketing strategies for integrated broad-based campaign plans, as well as organization wide communications plans, and supporting implementation as needed.

- Advising clients on optimizing existing communications efforts, and effectively deploying resources to the most valuable strategies based on factors like internal capacity, budget, and timeline.

- As needed, jumping in to develop creative copy, messaging, and creative, and/or to inform and shape creative in partnership with other members on the team.

- Core project management duties across assigned projects, including:

- Ongoing maintenance and management of project tracking, budgets and timelines

- Supporting internal team coordination

- Serving as a point of contact for clients, supporting ongoing flow of communication between the client and team members

- Managing monthly client invoicing

- Developing and managing project timelines and budgets, including updating projections and providing regular team updates

- Ensuring role clarity for internal project teams

Some of the skills and experience that would help you succeed in this role include:

- Agency experience (creative or communications)

- Experience organizing and tracking multiple deadlines, budgets, and project details and communicating effectively in a timely manner with internal staff, clients, vendors, etc.

- An understanding of digital, traditional, and earned media channels and strategic best practices.

- Experience with messaging, public relations or communications strategy

Strong writing skills in a variety of formats

- Comfort and some familiarity with basic facilitation skills

An enjoyment of digging into the details, while able to see a larger picture

- Experience presenting strategy and approaches to leaders at all levels from executive level professionals to staff members with little to no communications experience

Preferred, but not required:

We are actively looking for candidates with diverse experience and skills. We want to hear what you bring to the table. Experience that we are looking for includes but is not limited to:

- Experience working with or in Tribal communities.

- Experience working with media partners, contractors, and/or vendors to develop, manage, and steward paid media plans and strategies.

- Experience and familiarity with content writing and creative development and implementation for various digital, advertising, and offline marketing channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, MailChimp, web copy, Google AdWords, Facebook Advertising, etc.)

- Previous people management experience
