Washington, Seattle-tacoma, 98101 Seattle-tacoma USA

Living Dreams Yarn, an established family-owned online retail company specializing in yarn and fiber products, is seeking a person with writing and digital marketing skills to join our dynamic team in Rainier, WA.

We are not looking for a marketing agency!

We are only looking for an in-house Marketer to be part of our team.

This part-time position is perfect for someone with writing and entry level marketing skills who wants a stable, creative, part-time job while pursuing a degree in Marketing, Advertising, or a related field. It also is a great fit for Moms seeking a job with shortened work days and a flexible schedule. If you have experience with e-commerce or manage the social media activities for your personal interest group, this may be for you. Basically, we are looking for the right fit for our team working 2-3 days per week in our studio in Rainier, which is why we particularly encourage applications from our local community (Rainier, Yelm, Tumwater, Tenino, Lacey, Olympia).

While your primary responsibility will be writing blog posts and managing newsletter campaigns, we also expect you to manage our FaceBook, Instagram and Pinterest accounts and possibly our Google advertising. You should be a good writer with at least entry-level experience in some of these marketing tools AND also be somewhat familiar with the world of crochet, knitting, felting, and/or spinning.

This is an unusual combination of skills, which is why we want to encourage you to apply even if you don’t cover all of these areas. We would expect you to have email newsletter experience and solid knowledge in at least some of the marketing areas mentioned. If you are a creative thinker and fast learner the gaps can be filled by learning on the job and taking self-guided courses that are relevant to the task at hand.

THIS JOB IS FOR YOU IF:

you are a great writer with strong communication abilities.

you enjoy engaging with social media, digital marketing and e-commerce.

you have a passion and basic knowledge of the world of fiber arts.

you are looking for a part-time job and prefer family-owned business over corporate environments.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Write blog posts, design and manage newsletter campaigns.

Help craft and implement digital marketing strategies.

Manage social media profiles and websites, keeping them fresh and engaging.

Analyze data to help steer marketing efforts in the right direction.

Support the team with diverse tasks, including creating content and conducting market research.

Engage with our online communities to enhance brand visibility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Passion for writing. Bachelor's Degree is not a requirement but appreciated.

Experience with blog posts, email campaigns and newsletter management.

Proficiency in social media management and content creation.

Familiarity with the fiber arts is highly desirable, but negotiable if you can demonstrate ability in making up for gaps in knowledge.

Ability to work with WordPress websites.

Basic understanding of e-commerce.

Familiarity with Canva, Photoshop and Adobe video editing is a plus, though not mandatory.

If you have a good foundation in two or three of these areas, we would love to hear from you. We are a close-knit team and finding the right person is very important to us. While we expect you to bring some of these skills, we are happy to teach you and help you grow into this marketing role.

ABOUT THIS JOB:

While every member of our small team loves to be creative, we all share the everyday administrative and logistics tasks of an e-commerce business - expect a portion of your workday to be dedicated to these tasks.

Our core hours are Monday through Thursday from 9am-3pm. We will need you in the office 2-3 days per week, with some flexibility. The exact start date is flexible, but we hope to start training you soon.

ABOUT US:

Living Dreams Yarn has been in business for nearly 15 years. During this time, we have grown into a dynamic network of talented fiber artists, local farmers, independent fiber mills, dye studios, designers, knitters, and pattern makers. Business is still personal to us—we know our vendors, collaborate on ideas, and enjoy working as a team. We are most proud of the fact that we are bringing income opportunities to so many women artisans and female business owners in our rural community.

HOW TO APPLY:

Please send your resume to Tanja, owner at Living Dreams Yarn.

IMPORTANT: applications without a personalized cover letter will not be considered - please write a brief cover letter addressing each of these three topics:

Why you are seeking part-time employment?

What is your experience with blogging, social media and advertising?

What are your favorite crafts? Do you knit, spin, felt or crochet?

If this job post sparks an interest, we want to hear from you!
