Job Type: Part-time

Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Onsite

Pay: $40 - $45 DOE

Downtown Bellevue law firm seeking part-time paralegal to assist in business transactions, estate planning, and probate practice. The ideal candidate is capable of offering the highest level of service to our clients. Professionalism and teamwork are prized, so the best candidate works well with attorneys, co-workers, clients and their allied advisors, such as accountants and financial planners, and the court.

In this position, the paralegal will assist lawyers in preparing and organizing various legal documents for upcoming cases. Main duties include preparing affidavits and correspondence, discussing case details with attorneys and clients and organizing different files for different legal proceedings.

Business Transactions

Assessing and preparing contracts, contract addendums, and closing documents;

Perform due diligence including review of title commitments, surveys and underlying title documents and entity documents, coordinate and implement transactions and closings;

Prepare closing checklists, critical dates list, closing documents, various affidavits, certificates and resolutions and coordinate and control the closing process for various real estate transactions;

Handle the recording of documents in various counties; and

Assist with entity formation and maintenance.

Estate Planning

Drafting estate documents for the attorney’s review (wills, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives); and

Prepare documents and assist with creating and transferring assets into trusts.

Estate Administration

Responsibilities include all facets of trust and probate administration, including:

Communicating with beneficiaries;

Drafting correspondence and legal documents, including deeds, spreadsheets and pleadings;

Filing documents with the courts and other entities in a timely manner; and

Organizing and maintaining client files.

Qualifications

Comfortable navigating the internet and researching information;

Ability to type 60+ words per minute;

Ability to work independently;

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel); and

Three years’ prior experience as a paralegal in business, estate planning, or probate transactions.

No litigation experience required.
