Job description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Irrigation Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plant irrigation needs and irrigation systems, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering of nursery plants.

Position Type: Full-time, Hourly

Pay Band: $17- $26 depending on experience

Reporting To: Nursery Manager

Primary Function

The Irrigation Technician ensures proper watering levels for plants by performing tasks such as monitoring irrigation systems, laying pipes, digging trenches, and repairing leaks to support best plant health and growth.

Responsibilities

- Maintain proper watering level for plants and irrigation systems to company standards.

- Ensure all work areas are clean, and materials are disposed of properly.

- Complete assigned tasks and projects within scheduled hours while meeting or exceeding quality standards.

- Follow all company safety requirements and protocols.

- Maintain up-to-date technical and industry knowledge to identify and address issues effectively, seeking approval

before implementing solutions.

- Build positive working relationships with field and office personnel.

- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary company information.

- Support other plant production duties as needed.

Minimum Skills and Requirements

- Proven ability to safely use hand tools (e.g., shears, hoes, sprayers, digging tools, saws, hammers, pipe cutting tools)

and power tools (e.g. saws, drills)

- Working knowledge of nursery or farm equipment, including: Gators, farm trucks (pickup), vans, and small tractors.

Skid steers and tractors (50HP and up).

- Demonstrated capability to perform high-quality work under heavy workloads.

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in field/greenhouse environments.

- Comfortable climbing ladders and maneuvering effectively in the field.

- Ability to complete required safety training programs successfully.

Work Environment

- Field/Greenhouse Environment: 100%

- Typical Working Hours: 8-hour shifts between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM.

Flexibility: Requires overtime and schedule adjustments to meet commitments.
