This position is part time at this time, with the prospect of growing into more for the right person(s) The PT position currently is contract work in exchange for housing and all utilities only. (Add'l tasks would be compensated) Offering a 1200 sq ft 2 bdrm apartment, that includes all appliances, with dishwasher and own washer and dryer. Utilities – power, heat, garbage, Xfinity WIFI and cable TV. Sorry NO PETS and we are NON SMOKING housing and facility. Must have own transportation.
The person(s) for the position will have these qualities, and we will be selective as we take this job very seriously –
Current horse handling experience – more than “when I was a kid I had a horse”
Knowledgeable of horse behavior, including stallions
Is DEPENDABLE and reliable
Trustworthy, not a thief
Pays attention to detail
Has an observant eye – learns quickly and remembers things easily
Listens and follows directions without having to have it repeated multiple times
Understands how small farm life and caring for animals is not like other jobs where there’s a crew or others to step in, if you are not there.
Be willing to submit to drug testing and background check.
Must be able to be legally employed in the US and have no physical or emotional limitations to do the work.
Given the structure of this contract position, obviously applicant must have some other source of income for all other needs. Value of this exchange is $2,800 per month. On farm’s schedule - PT – 5 days per week 5 hours per day, and for days if owners are away, are paid a wage. Equivalent hourly to - $26-$30 per hour! Not set up for kids. Couple/partners… okay.
Work entails, but not limited to –
Caring for the horses (7 adults including stallions, and possibly a few foals a year) regardless of weather
Cleaning stalls and barn
Hay & Grain prep for feeding, light grooming, turn out, and bring in of horses
Some paddock maintenance (Small acreage)
What’s in the Future if you desire - but not a requirement – FT with additional compensation
Potential for relocation with us
Learning to participate in training and conditioning horses for show – halter and cart driving
Attending and helping at shows
Training additional farm help if needed
Learning all aspects of horse farm management
