Full Time Non-Exempt

2:30P - 11P, Monday-Friday (or 4P-12:30A or later)

$22.00 to 24.00/hour depending on experience and qualifications

About Bertschi School

Bertschi School, founded in 1975, is a Washington State approved elementary school serving

students in grades pre-kindergarten to fifth. We are an accredited member of the Pacific

Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) and the National Association of

Independent Schools (NAIS).

Position Summary

The Custodian/Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Worker reports directly to the Facility

Manager and assists in carrying out the daily custodial duties of the school buildings on campus

and the general care and maintenance of the school grounds.

Position Duties

Assist in keeping the buildings and grounds well maintained and in good orderly

condition

Performs heavy cleaning duties

Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and/or vacuums all floors

Gathers and empties trash, recycling, and compost

Cleans and disinfects sinks, toilets, urinals, dispensers, and fixtures in all bathrooms

Cleans and disinfects all bathroom floors and walls around toilets and urinals

Cleans all mirrors and window glass

Spot cleans all doors, door frames, light switches, and walls

Cleans all classroom sinks

Restocks paper products in bathrooms and classrooms

Sweeps and spot mops all stairs and landings

Dust all fixtures, desks, display units, door frames, and window ledges

Clean and sanitize all water fountains and water bottle filling stations

Ensure safe use of all equipment

Assist in keeping all school equipment in good working order

Assist full time in all summer and school break projects such as painting and

refurbishing classrooms

Ability to lift 50 pounds and move up to 100 pounds

Ability to use ladders

Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures

Ability to stand, walk, and bend for prolonged periods of time

Ability to perform repetitive motion for prolonged periods of time

Experience with using cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals

Enjoy being around children and part of a school community

Good communications and collaborative skills and a team player
