St John the Evangelist Parish is a dynamic and vibrant community of over 1,000 households, including a Parish School with approximately 540 students, in the North Seattle / Greenwood area. We are seeking a reliable, self-motivated person with a strong sense of responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of the premises to join our team. As Custodian, your knowledge of cleaning methods, safety protocols and equipment operation will be crucial in ensuring a clean and safe environment for our staff, students, parishioners and visitors.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming to maintain the cleanliness of all areas within the premises.
2. Utilize your extensive knowledge of cleaning products and chemicals to ensure proper usage and effective cleaning results.
3. Operate and maintain various cleaning equipment, including but not limited to, floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet cleaners.
4. Handle the disposal of trash and hazardous materials following safety guidelines and regulations.
5. Monitor and restock janitorial supplies to prevent interruptions in cleaning services.
6. Address maintenance issues promptly and report any repairs or replacements needed to the facility management.
7. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing cleaning duties and operating equipment.
8. Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail to identify and address cleaning needs in hard-to-reach or overlooked areas.
9. Collaborate with other team members and communicate effectively to ensure a cohesive and efficient cleaning process.
10. Assist with training and mentoring new custodial staff members, sharing your experience to promote excellence in the team.
11. Performs grounds maintenance/mowing/edging/leaf blowing.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience as a custodian, with a track record of excellence in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation.
2. Profound knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment operation.
3. Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations related to cleaning and chemical handling.
4. Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
5. Excellent time management skills to efficiently handle cleaning schedules and prioritize tasks.
6. Reliable and self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility toward maintaining the cleanliness
and safety of the premises.
7. Effective communication skills to interact with other team members and report any issues to management promptly.
8. Possess a valid state Driver's License
9.Successfully pass a background check and take the Archdiocesan Safe Environment course.
10.Must be an active Catholic or be from a Christian faith.
