Fair Isle Animal Clinic is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our busy predominantly small animal practice

on Vashon Island. This is a full-time position, working 30 to 40 hours per week, including some Saturdays. Excellent benefits. Ferry fare reimbursement for off island commuters. Come join us on our extraordinary island!

Qualifications:

Experience in a veterinary clinic strongly preferred.

Experience in caring for, handling and monitoring animals safely, effectively and humanely.

Ability to communicate in a professional, pleasant, respectful and courteous manner at all times.

Sense of humor and deep appreciation for animals and people.

Primary Job Duties:

ꞏ Ensure a comfortable and sanitary environment for all patients

ꞏ Perform treatments, monitor progress and care of hospitalized patients under direct DVM

supervision

ꞏ Support DVMs and LVTs in stabilizing critically ill patients

ꞏ Assist DVMs and LVTs with clinical procedures

ꞏ Assist with digital radiographs, in-house lab work, and other routine procedures

ꞏ Help with maintaining a clean facility, instruments, and laundry

ꞏ Client care and education: check in appointments, call backs, basic pet care education.

Communicate with pet owners using a professional, cheerful, and helpful manner.

ꞏ Computer duties: Make estimates and invoice clients.

Due to the nature of our work, you must be able to work around cleaning products, various odors, and animal waste.

Although we treat mostly dogs and cats, we are a mixed animal practice, and are happy to train you to work with whatever species you are not familiar with. We do not treat horses.
