Job Description
We are seeking a Washington State-licensed AFH Operator to manage daily operations of our 6-bed adult family home serving elderly/disabled/special needs residents. The ideal candidate will ensure 100% compliance with DSHS regulations (WAC 388-76) while providing compassionate, high-quality care. This home will be ready for inspection and staffing by mid-April 2025.
Responsibilities
Licensing & Compliance
Maintain active AFH license and all DSHS requirements
Pass all DSHS inspections with no Type A violations
Implement and update care policies per WAC 388-76
Resident Care
Develop individualized care plans
Administer medications (with delegation from RN if applicable)
Coordinate with physicians, therapists, and families
Staff Management
Hire, train, and schedule caregivers (meeting DSHS staffing ratios)
Ensure all staff complete 75-hour caregiver training, CPR/first aid, and background checks or anything else that is required
Administrative Duties
Maintain resident records (care plans, medications, incidents)
Manage budgets, payroll, and DSHS billing (including Medicaid/COPES)
Conduct emergency drills (fire, disaster, etc.) per DSHS rules
Requirements
✅ Mandatory Credentials
Ability to obtain Washington AFH License via DSHS
AFH Administrator Certification
DSHS Background Check clearance (RCW 74.39A)
CPR/First Aid and Food Handler’s Permit
✅ Experience
2+ years operating a licensed AFH in Washington
Proven track record of zero Type A violations
Knowledge of Medicaid/COPES billing
✅ Skills
Expertise in dementia
Ability to pass DSHS surprise inspections
Conflict resolution with residents/families
Preferred Qualifications
RN/LPN license (for medication delegation)
Experience with [specialty populations, e.g., dementia, developmental disabilities]
