Kitchen Lead/Cook at Local Cocktail Bar

Washington, Seattle-tacoma, 98101 Seattle-tacoma USA

Vacancy caducado!

Looking for someone keen to demonstrate their culinary talents and creativity at a fun, local cocktail bar! Our cutty little crew needs a kitchen lead that wants to execute, develop, and help fine tune the food program in our craft cocktail bar, located in the historic Security Building in downtown Olympia. This isn’t a full line, nor are we looking for a regular line cook. Is it the easiest space to work in? Heck no! Can we pull off some awesomeness with the help of someone that wants to join our tiny family and help us create and dole out delicious sht? Absolutely! Did I use too many exclamation points!? Always! Seriously though, we have an awesome little team, and we need someone to collaborate with us and help develop what we already have, into what it can be.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and cook high-quality food in accordance with menu specifications.

- Cost out food and minimize waste

- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations.

- Desire to creatively reevaluate, update, and optimize current food menu, while creating new ideas in collaboration with management.

- Adapt to kitchen limitations, including the absence of a microwave and fryer, and limited refrigeration and storage space.

- Work and collaborate with a small team that supports each other.

- Manage inventory and conduct regular shopping for necessary supplies.

- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, and assist your fellow warriors in doing the same.

Requirements:

- Previous experience in food service, with a strong understanding of kitchen operations.

- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.

- Ability and willingness to engage with guests and care about their needs and requests. Experience in, or desire to have experience in, the service side of business is a plus.

- Ability to work independently, with a very small team, and desire to take initiative in menu development and problem solving.

- Reliable transportation for inventory shopping.

- Ability to work evening hours and weekends.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills (also known as being kind to, and listening to each other).

- Ability to collaborate and exchange ideas with others in pursuit of growth, and ability to receive criticism without getting mad at me and making me cry.

- Giving a sht (I think I'm supposed to say something like “proactive commitment to achieving shared goals” but, like, same thing. I guess I should add handling sarcasm as a plus?)

If it sounds like a place you could get down with, send over a resume, and a cover letter if you feel like letting us know a little bit about you. We look forward to hearing from you!
