About the Role:
Pyramid Catering is seeking a talented and motivated full-time Lead Cook with the potential to grow into a Sous Chef position. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about cooking, eager to learn, and thrives in a dynamic, event-based environment.
What We Offer:
- Flexible Downtime: We operate on a seasonal calendar, with peak periods during the summer and holidays. During the slower months (typically 3-4 months of the year), you may work reduced hours—sometimes as little as 10–20 hours per week or even take up to 5 days off—while maintaining your full-time salary. We value productivity over punching a clock and won't require 40 hours just for the sake of it.
- Growth Potential: If you excel in this role, there is a clear pathway to a Sous Chef promotion with a corresponding raise.
- Diverse Culinary Exposure: You’ll have the chance to work with a wide-ranging and customizable menu, with a strong focus on Asian cuisines including Indonesian, Laotian, Malaysian, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. We provide training for any cuisine you’re not yet familiar with—perfect for cooks who love learning and variety.
What We're Looking For:
- Open Availability: Our schedule varies weekly based on event bookings. You must be available to work irregular hours, with longer shifts (50–60 hours/week) expected during peak seasons.
- Driving Ability: You must be comfortable driving large vans to handle shopping trips (e.g., Restaurant Depot runs) and occasional event transport.
- Reliability: Punctuality and dependability are essential. We expect our lead cook to be a consistent and trustworthy presence on the team.
- Strong English Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills are required to work effectively with our diverse team.
- Leadership and Foresight: You’ll need to delegate tasks, manage kitchen flow, and anticipate needs—always thinking a few steps ahead.
- Transportation: You must have your own reliable transportation, as you may need to travel to different venues.
- Ownership Mentality: While you may not be directly responsible for food or labor costs, we’re looking for someone who cares about them as if they were—taking pride in the kitchen’s efficiency and success.
