Job Description

Scope of Position

Ensure timely and accurate movement of freight and information, while providing exceptional customer service within the Ocean Import Department.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Shipment management:

  • Track and trace inbound Ocean Import shipments as required
  • Shipment management: Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operating system
  • Turn over documents timely to customer or broker for customs purposes
  • Prepare in bond documentation and dispatch shipments for timely delivery of freight to customers
  • Ensure accurate and timely client and Service Providers billing

Internal & External Customer Service:

  • Interact with our customers in arranging their international shipments, meeting customer service standards
  • Contribute to maintaining strong relationships with service providers (steamship lines, trucking companies, and others)
  • Overseas communications, timely responses to emails and requests (internal and external)
  • Provide Operations expertise to other teams within the organization, including Customs Brokerage, Sales & Account Management, Accounting, etc.

Development and Compliance:

  • Understand department process flow, constantly looking for areas of improved efficiency
  • Ensure all customers' standard operating procedures are followed and updated
  • Meet KPI standards, as per the company procedures
  • Meet compliance at all times to regulations. This includes internal policies and procedures such as Operational Process Standards (OPS) and external government regulations or customer’s policies / requirements
  • Pursue personal development; Meet the minimum required 52 hours of Compliance and Development training per year

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Understanding of ocean or customs documentation process a plus
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Pro-active, strong organizational skills
  • Good computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Attention to Detail
  • Fluent in English

This is an onsite position, based in SeaTac, WA.
