Job Description
Scope of PositionEnsure timely and accurate movement of freight and information, while providing exceptional customer service within the Ocean Import Department.
Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesShipment management:
- Track and trace inbound Ocean Import shipments as required
- Shipment management: Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operating system
- Turn over documents timely to customer or broker for customs purposes
- Prepare in bond documentation and dispatch shipments for timely delivery of freight to customers
- Ensure accurate and timely client and Service Providers billing
Internal & External Customer Service:
- Interact with our customers in arranging their international shipments, meeting customer service standards
- Contribute to maintaining strong relationships with service providers (steamship lines, trucking companies, and others)
- Overseas communications, timely responses to emails and requests (internal and external)
- Provide Operations expertise to other teams within the organization, including Customs Brokerage, Sales & Account Management, Accounting, etc.
Development and Compliance:
- Understand department process flow, constantly looking for areas of improved efficiency
- Ensure all customers' standard operating procedures are followed and updated
- Meet KPI standards, as per the company procedures
- Meet compliance at all times to regulations. This includes internal policies and procedures such as Operational Process Standards (OPS) and external government regulations or customer’s policies / requirements
- Pursue personal development; Meet the minimum required 52 hours of Compliance and Development training per year
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Understanding of ocean or customs documentation process a plus
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Pro-active, strong organizational skills
- Good computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Attention to Detail
- Fluent in English
This is an onsite position, based in SeaTac, WA.
