UW-IT provides critical technology support to all three campuses, UW Medicine, and research operations around the world, partnering with the UW community to enable innovation, learning, discovery, and service."The Reporting and Analytics (R&A) teams at the University empower data-driven decisions by providing easy access to institutional information. We utilize various approaches such as traditional reports, data cubes, AI-driven features, and predictive analytics, all of which are supported by well-managed metadata definitions. We also offer timely, accurate, and actionable Workday operational reports for Human Capital Management and Finances. In addition, we build and maintain custom applications such as BI Portal and Knowledge Navigator to empower end-users to effortlessly access, explore, and interact with our data products.The R&A teams collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver actionable insights that drive informed decisions, ultimately improving admissions, student success, instruction, and administrative services for everyone involved, including students, faculty, advisors, and staff.REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in IT, computer science, statistics or mathematics or related field or experience.

Four years of relative experience in data science

Proficiency in Python and/ or R

Deep understanding of statistical concepts and approaches

Experience querying relational databases with SQL, and merging, cleaning and transforming data

Familiarity with GIT workflows

Experience using machine learning techniques to address complex business problems

Familiarity with big data technologies such as cloud-based tools

Proficiency in using data science libraries for building and deploying models

Ability to align data science initiatives with university priorities

Ability to prototype innovative solutions to meet business needs at the university

Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, and personal interaction abilities.

Ability to create compelling and informative data visualizations DESIRED:

Experience leading junior data scientists, or graduate and undergraduate students

Demonstrated ability to lead a data science project teams to improve business processes

Familiarity with UW systems, policies, and academic programs, and working with student data

Excellent time management and organization skills

Comfortable with rapidly changing priorities

Proactive communicator
